Configure permissions on Hyper-V hosts to allow Commvault access nodes to perform backup and restore operations.
Prerequisites
-
Administrative access to Hyper-V hosts or failover cluster nodes
-
For failover clusters: Access to Active Directory Users and Computers
Procedure
To configure permissions, follow these steps:
-
For standalone Hyper-V servers, add the user account to the Hyper-V Administrators group on the server.
See https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/manage/remotely-manage-hyper-v-hosts for information about configuring remote management permissions.
-
For failover clusters, configure permissions on all cluster nodes and the cluster object:
-
Add the user account to the Hyper-V Administrators group on all cluster nodes.
-
In Active Directory Users and Computers, grant the user account Full Control and Read permissions on the cluster computer object.
See https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/manage/remotely-manage-hyper-v-hosts for information about configuring remote management permissions in clustered environments.
