Commvault Flex Open is a software-defined version of Flex that runs on VaultOS, Commvault's hardened operating system, and gives customers maximum infrastructure flexibility. It consolidates Media Agent, Access Node, Index Server, and Threat Analysis functions into a single platform that can be deployed on virtually any server and with almost any storage type (direct-attached, NAS, block, S3, tape, Data Domain, StoreOnce, etc.). Flex Open supports capacities from 1TB to 500TB per node, can be deployed with or without attached storage, and allows customers to leverage existing infrastructure investments. Unlike Flex Appliance, Commvault supports the software only, while customers manage hardware deployment, monitoring, and vendor support.
