Use Arlie for guided onboarding of data protection workloads

Arlie uses Swiftly, an Arlie agent, to guide you through onboarding supported workloads and services for data protection in the Command Center. Instead of navigating Service Catalog onboarding wizards on your own, Arlie guides you through each step, explains configuration options, and completes supported actions automatically.

Arlie AI Assistant provides two interaction modes:

  • Ask: Ask questions about Commvault features, configuration, and documentation. Arlie responds with explanations and links to relevant documentation.

  • Agent: Use Swiftly to perform supported onboarding workflows with guided, step-by-step assistance.

Prerequisites

  • Arlie AI Assistant must be enabled in your environment.

  • You must have permission to onboard the workload or service that you want to configure.

Start a guided onboarding workflow

Use natural language to describe what you want to configure, and Swiftly identifies the appropriate Service Catalog workflow.

  1. In the Command Center, click Arlie AI assistant AI assistant.

  2. Select Agent.

  3. Describe the onboarding task that you want to perform.

    For example:

    • Onboard a VMware vCenter

    • Configure Microsoft 365 protection

    • Onboard a NAS file server

    • Configure PostgreSQL backup

    • Protect a Kubernetes cluster

  4. If your request matches multiple onboarding workflows, answer the questions that Swiftly asks to identify the correct workflow.

Depending on the request, Swiftly might present quick-reply options or prompt you to enter additional information.

  5. Review the onboarding task, and then allow Swiftly to open the appropriate Service Catalog wizard.

How Swiftly guides you

After Swiftly opens the onboarding wizard, it guides you through each page until the workflow is complete.

During the workflow, Swiftly:

  • Organizes each wizard page into a task and each field or action into individual steps.

  • Highlights the active field on the page so that you can quickly locate it.

  • Explains configuration options using Commvault terminology to help you understand when and why to use them.

  • Completes supported actions automatically, such as navigating through the workflow and selecting appropriate default options.

  • Prompts you for input only when environment-specific information or configuration decisions are required.

  • Tracks your progress as you move through the onboarding wizard.

When Swiftly requires information from you, complete the requested action in the wizard, and then click Done to continue.

Pause or stop a workflow

You can pause or stop a guided onboarding workflow at any time.

  • Pause: Pauses the current workflow. To continue, return to the same onboarding page and resume the workflow. If you navigate to a different workflow, Swiftly can't resume the previous session automatically.

  • Stop: Ends the current workflow. To continue, start a new onboarding session.

If Swiftly needs your attention

Swiftly monitors the onboarding workflow and notifies you when action is required.

For example, Swiftly can:

  • Ask you to correct validation errors before continuing.

  • Refresh the guided steps when the wizard changes based on your selections.

  • Explain why the workflow can't continue if the onboarding wizard closes unexpectedly or a required subscription isn't available.

After you resolve the issue, continue the workflow or restart the onboarding session if necessary.
