After Over-Multiplexing, Giga-Switches are Added

dm_tr_shoot_example_05

From the previous example. the clients were over-multiplexed, because the total drive throughput of all clients after multiplexing was 15 MB/Sec, which exceeded the network switch speed of 12.3. After a gigabit Ethernet switch was added to the network switch and the network card on the MediaAgent:

Total tape drive throughput = 15 MB/Sec

Speed of network switch and network card on the MediaAgent= 123 MB/Sec

Therefore, the tape drive throughput is not slowed down by the speed of the switches and cards in the network. And you have not exceeded the speed of the tape drive, which is 40 MB/Sec.
