The Data Analysis Toolkit is required when you use the following features:

To add a database as a data source on a project, the Data Analysis Toolkit package must be installed on each database client or on a proxy client. For information about adding a database data source for Activate, see Adding Database Data Sources.

If an Active Directory (AD) domain is added to an inventory, but the Index Server cannot connect to the AD server, install the Data Analysis Toolkit package on a client that can connect to the AD server. For information about adding domains to an inventory, see Adding Domains to an Inventory.

Data Cube: If an LDAP data source is added, but the Index Server cannot connect to the Active Directory (AD) server, install the Data Analysis Toolkit package on a client that can connect to the AD server.
