In the Browse and Restore Options dialog box, which is documented in the following procedure, you can choose to restore data to its original location on the same cluster, or you can choose to perform different types of restores. To determine which combination of dialog box options meets your needs, see Restore Options.

By default, when you perform a restore operation, the data is restored to its original location on the same cluster.

The restored files and directories have the same ownership and permissions with which they were backed up.
Procedure

From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > pseudo-client > Big Data Apps > instance.

In the right pane, right-click a subclient, and then click Browse and Restore.
The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

Click View Content.
-
Select the data that you want to restore, and then click Recover All Selected.

On the Restore Option General tab, specify the general restore options.

On the Restore Option Job Initiation tab, specify whether you want to run the job immediately or to schedule it.

Optional: To further customize the restore operation, click Advanced.

Tip: To determine which combination of options meets your needs, refer to Restore Options.

Optional: To save the current restore options as a script file, click Save as Script.

Click OK.
If you chose to run the restore operation immediately, you can track the progress of the job from the Job Controller window. For more information, see Job Controller. If you chose to schedule your job, then the restore job does not start until the time that you specified in the schedule. For more information, see Job Controller.
After the restore job is complete, you can view the restore job history. For more information, see Job History.
Restore Options
Out-of-Place Restore to a Different Client Computer in the Same CommCell

On the Restore Options - General tab:

In the Destination Client list, select the client. You can select any client that is in the same CommCell as that of the client from which the data was backed up.

To restore to the same folder on the destination, select the Restore to same folder check box. (Any existing data in that folder on the destination client is overwritten during the restore operation.)

On the Advanced Restore Options - Paths/Filters tab, exclude the following folders:

*:\drivers\*
-
*:\win*\inf\*
Note
If you restore a shared folder from one client computer to another client computer, the share status of the folder is restored.
Backed up data from clients running the current Commvault version cannot be restored to clients running older versions.

Out-of-Place Restore to a Different Folder on the Same Hadoop Cluster

On the Restore Options - General tab:

Clear the Restore to same folder check box.

Under Specify Destination Path, type the path that you want to restore the data to.

Optional: Select Preserve Source Paths options to exclude files and folders from the source path.

Examples:
-
If you select the path Documents/Users/Memos/Sales, and you want to restore data only from the Sales folder, set the Preserve n level from end of source path option to 1.
-
If the select the path Documents/Users/Memos/Sales, and you want to restore the data from the Memos and Sales folders, set the Remove n level from beginning of source path option to 2.
Result
The files are restored to the destination folder that you specified. If the destination folder does not exist, then a folder with the same name that you specified is created and the data is restored to that folder.
Out-of-Place Restore to a Different Hadoop Cluster in the Same CommCell

On the Restore Options - General tab:

In the Destination Client list, select the pseudo-client.
You can select any pseudo-client that is in the same CommCell environment as the instance from which the data was backed up.

In the Destination Instance list, select the instance.
You can select any instance from the pseudo-client.

To restore to the same folder on the destination client, select the Restore to same folder check box.
The restore overwrites any data that is in that folder.

On the Advanced Restore Options - Data Access Nodes tab, in the Available Data Access Nodes list, select the required nodes, and then click Add.
The restore operation runs on data access nodes that you select.
Out-of-Place Restore to an Application Cluster in the Same CommCell

On the Restore Options - General tab:

In the Destination Client list, select the pseudo-client of an application cluster.
You can select any pseudo-client that is in the same CommCell environment as the instance from which the data was backed up.

In the Destination Instance list, select the instance.
You can select any instance from the pseudo-client.

To restore to the same folder on the destination client, select the Restore to same folder check box.
The restore overwrites any data that is in that folder.

On the Advanced Restore Options - Data Access Nodes tab, in the Available Data Access Nodes list, select the required nodes, and then click Add.
The restore operation runs on the data access nodes that you select.
Cross-Platform Restore
You can restore data cross-platform to all supported versions of UNIX.

On the Restore Options - General tab:

In the Destination Client list, select the pseudo-client.
You can select any pseudo-client that is in the same CommCell environment as the instance from which the data was backed up.

In the Destination Instance list, select the instance.
You can select any instance from the pseudo-client.

Clear the Restore to same folder check box.

Under Specify Destination Path, type the path that you want to restore the data to.

On the Advanced Restore Options - Data Access Nodes tab, in the Available Data Access Nodes list, select the required nodes, and then click Add.
The restore operation runs on the data access nodes that you select.
Result
