Sharing Handlers with Other Data Cube Users

With Data Cube, you can create custom request handlers for your data sources to return data that matches criteria that you specify. You can also assign user permissions to control which users have the ability to view, edit, and execute the handler request.

Only the user who created the handler can delete the handler from Data Cube.

Tip

You can also share handlers from the share data source configuration page. For information, see Sharing Data Cube Data Sources with Other Users.

Before You Begin

  • Only the user who created the data handler can share the handler with other users.

  • You can share handlers with any users or user groups that are registered in the CommCell Console and that are associated with you. To view a shared handler, the shared user or user groups must have access to the Web Console.

Procedure

  1. In a web browser, log on to the Web Console, and then click Analytics.

  2. In the left pane, click the connector group to view the data sources for that connector.

  3. On the Data Sources (connector) page, click the data source that you want to use.

  4. In the upper right of the page, click Handlers.

  5. In the Handlers table, under Action, click Share for the handler that you want to share.

The Share handler: handler name dialog box appears.

  6. Enter the users with whom you want to share the handler.

You can enter user names, email addresses, and user group names as a comma-separated list. If you enter multiple users, then all the users have the same level of permissions.

  7. To the right of the user field, from the list, select the permissions that you want the users to have:

    • To assign the permission to view the handler in Data Cube, select View.

    • To assign the permission to execute the handler query and to view the response object, select Execute.

Note: Users who have only the Execute permission cannot view the handler configuration in Data Cube, but they can view the response.

    • To assign the permission to edit the handler configurations, select Edit.

  8. Click Share.

  9. To share the handler with users who require different levels of permissions, repeat this procedure.

Results

After the handler is shared, you can manage how you share:

  • To edit user permissions, go to the Share handler: handler name dialog box, and then, under Action, click the edit button for the user and select new permissions.

  • To stop sharing the handler completely, go to the Share handler: handler name dialog box, and then click Stop Sharing.
