Unlocking Files and Folders on Your Laptop

Secured files must be unlocked before you can open and read the contents of the file. You can unlock individual files or unlock all of the files within a folder. To unlock a file, you must be an authorized user of the file. An authorized user is typically the user account that locked the file.

Before You Begin

Procedure

  1. On your laptop, open Windows Explorer.

  2. Go to the file or folder you want to lock.

  3. Right-click the file or folder, point to Edge, and click Unlock.

  4. If prompted, enter your passkey.
