Configuring Extended Retention for Log Backups

You can configure extended retention for log backups.

Procedure

1. To the backup infrastructure computers, add the All_RetainLogsInDays additional setting, and set the value to 3 (days).

2. Create a backup plan for a server group. For more information, see Creating a Server Plan.

3. Define the backup content as follows:

   1. From the backup plan screen, in the Backup content tile, move the Define backup content toggle key to the right.

      The Define backup content dialog box appears.

   2. Depending on the operating system, click the Windows or Unix tab.

   3. Click Add > Custom Path.

      The Custom path field appears.

   4. Depending on the operating system, enter the following folder path:

      • Windows:

        *:\**\Log Files\*
            
        

      • UNIX:

        /**/Log_Files/*
            
        

4. Create a plan rule for the backup plan you just created. For more information, see Creating a Plan Rule.

   Create the plan rule so that it is specific to the server group containing the backup infrastructure.

5. Set the backup frequency as follows:

   1. From the backup plan screen, in the RPO tile, for Backup frequency, click Add.

      The Add backup frequency dialog box appears.

   2. Set the parameters as follows:

      • Backup type: Incremental

      • for: All agents

      • Runs every: 8 hours

   3. Click Save.
