Converting to Red Hat Virtualization

When restoring an Oracle VM virtual machine from backup, you can restore it as a Red Hat Virtualization virtual machine.

Before You Begin

  • Back up the virtual machine that you plan to convert.

  • Use the configuration wizard to create a Red Hat Virtualization hypervisor.

  • Linux VM /etc/fstab entries should use UUIDs instead of device names, because device names might change on conversion. You can also, post-conversion, change the entry in fstab from sda/sdb to xvda/xvdb for the converted disks.

Requirements

  • Oracle VM version 3.4.4 or later

  • RHEV Manager (RHEV-M or RHEV-H) 4.0, 4.1.x, 4.2.x, 4.3.x, 4.4.x
