Creating a NFS Subclient for OCI File Storage

Updated

You can create a user-defined subclient to back up specific NFS exports and content.

If the subclients for a file server contain some of the same content, then the Commvault software backs up each export individually. The default subclient does not back up the content that is contained in the other subclients within the same backup set.

Important

  • The content of a subclient must use either the auto-mount format or the mount point format, but not both. If you need to add content that uses a different format, create another subclient.

    • Auto-mount format: The content path begins with the file server interface. For example, file_server_interface:/NFS_export_path.

    • Mount point format: The content path includes the mount point. For example, /mount/nfs.

  • Data that is backed up with a subclient that uses the auto-mount format must be restored with an out-of-place restore operation. In-place restore operations are not supported.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File servers.

    The File servers page appears.

  2. Click the file server.

    The file server page appears.

  3. Under Protocols, click NFS.

    The protocol page appears.

  4. In the Subclients section, on the right of the page, click Add subclient.

    The Add subclient page appears.

  5. In the Name box, enter a name for the subclient.

  6. From the Plan list, select the server plan to use for the subclient.

  7. On the Content, Exclusions, and Exceptions tabs, specify the content to back up.
