Scheduling SAP MaxDB Backups from Command Center

You can perform backup of a SAP MaxDB instance.

You can schedule the SAP MaxDB workflow to perform any of the following SAP MaxDB backups:

• Online full

• Offline full

• Online incremental

• Offline incremental

• log

This workflow automates the following operations:

1. Backs up data for the selected instance that is configured in the CommCell Console.

2. Sends an email to selected user that contains the job status.

   • The success email contains no additional information.

   • The failure email contains the return code and the job details.

3. Facilitates to perform backups using the backup medium name.

   Note

   You can run the SAP MaxDB workflow only from the Command Center.

Before You Begin

• The database must be online and all services must be running.

• You must download and install the workflow that you want to use during backup. To download the workflow, see Commvault Store.

Procedure

1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

   The database overview page appears.

2. Go to Instances tab.

   The instance table appears.

3. In the row for the instance that you want to backup, click the action button , and then select Backup.

   Alternatively, click the instance that you want to back up. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Backup.

   The Backup dialog box appears.

4. You can manage SAP MaxDB backups using one of the following workflows:

   • Using Database credential

   • Using XUSER authentication to trigger the backup job

     To Manage SAP MaxDB backups using XUser, move Use XUser to backup toggle key to right.

5. Click OK.
