An automatic schedule uses the data protection resources more efficiently by running backup jobs every n number of hours or when specific criteria are met. For a list of available criteria, see Automatic.
Automatic schedule policies can be set for:

When you set automatic schedule policies for laptop clients and database logs, the backup jobs will run automatically only if the Commvault Communications Service is running on the CommServe server and the client computer.
