Upgrading an Existing Setup With Failover Monitor

You can upgrade an existing setup with the Failover Monitor to the High Availability CommServe Host.

  1. Disable Automatic Synchronization between the CommServe hosts.

    Disable automatic synchronization as follows:

    1. Start the Failover Monitor.

    2. In the Failover Configuration tab, set Enable Synchronization of Nodes to No.

    3. Click Update Configuration

  2. Terminate Synchronization Jobs in the Job Controller (Optional)

    Terminate or kill synchronization jobs that are in progress using the Job Controller in CommCell Console. For more information on terminating jobs, see Killing a Job in the Job Controller.

  3. Stop cvfailovercommserv.exe in the Task Manager

    Open the Windows Task Manager and stop cvfailovercommserv.exe if it is running.

  4. Rename the Configuration File

    Rename cvfailover.cfg located in the <installation_directory>/cvfailover folder available in the second instance.

  5. Upgrade the existing CommServe to the most recent Commvault feature release. For more information on the latest service pack and how to install it, see Service Packs.

  6. Uninstall Instance 2 (or the instance with SQL Server Agent and CommServe Failover packages) in the production CommServe host. For more information on uninstalling packages, see Uninstallations.

  7. Installing the CommServe Failover Package on the Production CommServe Host.

  8. Uninstall the packages installed in Instance 2 (or the instance with SQL Server Agent and CommServe Failover packages) first, and then uninstall the packages in Instance 1. For more information on uninstalling packages, see Uninstallations.

  9. Install the standby CommServe host.

  10. Enable the LiveSync operation.

  11. Setup Frequent Disk Cache for LiveSync Replication.

  12. Configure connectivity to remote Web Server and Workflow engine clients.

  13. Verify the default setup.

  14. Verify disaster readiness.

What to Do Next
