Recovering GCP Resources to a Cross Project

You can use cross-project recovery in the following scenarios:

  • Restore entire environment to a destination project within the selected region.

  • Recover to a pre-configured network setup.

  • Recover using a Shared VPC setup with existing network configurations for seamless integration.

Note

Cross-project protection is available for only compute service resources; other service resources are not supported.

Before You Begin

  • Configure cross-project protection for GCP cloud assembly.

  • If a custom service account is configured with VM instances, verify that the custom service account is pre-created in the cross-project with the same name. If it is available, Cloud Rewind will validate and map the custom service account during VM instance recovery. If not, a default service account will be assigned automatically.

  • Verify that the iam.serviceAccounts.get permission is assigned to the Cloud Rewind service account. This is required to validate and map the custom service account.

If this permission is not available, a default service account will be mapped automatically during VM recovery.
