Cloud Rewind offers cross-project protection and recovery for Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This feature allows you to rebuild/restore the entire environment to a designated destination project so that resources are recovered across projects in case of failure or disaster.
Note
-
Cross-project protection is available for only compute service resources; other service resources are not supported.
-
You can protect a maximum of two cross projects per GCP cloud assembly.
Before You Begin
-
Verify that at least two GCP cloud connections are available.
-
To maintain consistency and prevent conflicts when setting up regional protection across projects, verify that the source and target cloud connections are configured with the same set of regions.
Procedure
-
From the navigation menu, go to Cloud Resilence > Cloud Assemblies.
The Cloud Assemblies page appears.
-
Click the GCP cloud assembly.
The Cloud Assembly page for GCP appears.
-
In the top-right corner of the page, click Actions, and then select Edit.
The General Information page of the Edit Cloud Assembly wizard appears
-
Go to the Protection configuration page, in the top-right corner, click Edit.
-
Move the Allow cross project protection toggle key to the right.
-
Select cross cloud connection for the destination GCP project.
-
To stop protecting resources locally, move the Keep local protection active toggle key to the left. By default, GCP resources are protected across projects and locally within the same project.
Note
If local protection is not needed for disaster recovery (DR) testing within the same project, disable local protection.
