Clumio provides a secure way to protect your Google Cloud Storage (GCS) buckets through Clumio Protect for GCS.
Bucket-level permissions
If bucket-level permissions (IAM policies) are applied to your GCS bucket, ensure they allow access to the Clumio service account for successful ingestion and inventory operations.
Supported storage classes
Clumio Protect backups work with all GCS storage classes:
-
Standard
-
Nearline
-
Coldline
-
Archive
Note
Backing up objects in storage classes other than Standard (Nearline, Coldline, and Archive) incurs data retrieval fees charged by Google Cloud to your account. Clumio retrieves the object data during backup; the retrieval cost is billed on the customer side.
Supported encryption types
The following encryption types are supported for object backups:
-
Google-managed encryption keys (default)
-
Customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK) using Cloud KMS
Note
Bring-your-own-key (BYOK) for Clumio backups is not supported for GCS.
Useful information
-
Clumio offers SecureVault Standard and SecureVault Archive backup tiers for GCS (see Clumio pricing for details).
-
Protecting the same object across different protection groups results in separate metering per group.
Connect your GCP project
Connect your GCP project and the regions containing resources before protecting them:
-
For connection instructions, see Connecting a GCP project.
