You can automatically map owners to future laptops that are installed using an authorization code. In addition, you can map owners to laptops already existing in the CommCell environment.
Automatically Map Owners to Future Laptops Installed With an Authorization Code
With this procedure, you can map owners to future computers that are installed with the Laptop package.
Procedure

From the navigation pane, go to Manage > System.
The System page appears.

Click Laptop options.
The Laptop options page appears.

Add laptop and owner mapping entries of the computers that are to be installed with the Laptop package.
Results

When the Commvault Laptop package is installed on a listed laptop with an authorization code, Commvault automatically assigns the corresponding listed owner as the laptop owner.

When a user is successfully added as an owner for a laptop, the corresponding row is deleted from the Laptop owner mapping table.

If a mapped laptop owner is not an existing Commvault user, then a new Commvault user is created with the corresponding UPN and email address.
Map Owners to Already Existing Laptops
With this procedure, you can map new owners to already existing laptops, in addition to mapping owners to computers that are to be installed with the Laptop package.
Procedure

From the navigation pane, go to Manage > System.
The System page appears.

Click Laptop options.
The Laptop options page appears.

Add laptop and owner mapping entries of already existing laptops for which you need to assign new owners.

Click Apply.
Results
-
The mapped owners are assigned to laptops that already exist in the CommCell environment.

When a user is successfully added as an owner for a laptop, the corresponding row is deleted from the Laptop owner mapping table.

If a mapped laptop owner is not an existing Commvault user, then a new Commvault user is created with the corresponding UPN and email address.
Adding Laptop Owner Mappings
You can add a single laptop owner mapping entry or bulk laptop owner mappings. Each laptop owner mapping consists of the following attributes:

Laptop name: Name of the laptop.

Serial number: Manufacturer's serial number of the computer.

Host: Host name of the computer.

Owner email: Email address of a user that you want to be the laptop owner.

Owner UPN: User Principal Name of a user that you want to be the laptop owner.

OS: Operating system of the computer.
Before You Begin
To add bulk laptop owner mappings, create and save a CSV file with multiple laptop owner mapping entries. The CSV file must contain entries in the following order.

Procedure

From the navigation pane, go to Manage > System.
The System page appears.

Click Laptop options.
The Laptop options page appears.

In the Laptop owner mapping section, to add entries, click Add.

To add a single row of laptop mapping:

Click Laptop mapping and provide the laptop and owner mapping values.

Click ADD.

To add bulk laptop owner mappings:

Click Bulk laptop mappings.
The Add bulk laptop owner mappings page appears.

Click UPLOAD, and select a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file with laptop and owner mappings from your local computer.
Tip
Click Download CSV sample to view a sample CSV file.
