Updating a VMware Hypervisor

You can update settings for a VMware hypervisor.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

    The Virtual machines page appears.

  2. Click the hypervisor.

    The hypervisor page appears.

  3. To control whether users can perform backups and restores for the hypervisor, on the Configuration tab, in the Activity Control area, click the toggle switch for Data backup or Data restore.

  4. To specify credentials for VMware services such as NSX server, see Adding a NSX Server to VMware Hypervisor

  5. In the Settings area, to change settings, click Edit.

    vCloud host name: To enable backups and restores for vCloud Director, enter the vCloud host name.

    • Username: Enter the username for the vCloud account. Do not include the domain name.

    • Password: Enter the password for the vCloud account, then re-enter the same password in the Confirm password box.

      You can create a new File Recovery Enabler for Linux (FREL), and assign it to this hypervisor. Click Deploy New FREL VM.

    • For application-aware backups, you can specify the credentials that are used to access guest VMs:

      Guest Credentials: Specify a user name and password that can be used for all guest VMs on the hypervisor.

    • Override time zone: Select a time zone for this hypervisor. This setting overrides the default time zone (that is, the time zone of the CommServe server).

      If you change this setting and also change the Override time zone setting at the VM Group level, the system will use the VM Group level's Override time zone setting.

  6. Click Save.

  7. In the Security area, click Edit to associate users, groups, or roles with the hypervisor, or to specify owners and permissions.

  8. In the Access Node area, click Edit to modify the list of access nodes (proxies) that can be used for the hypervisor.

    To deploy a new access node for Linux, on the Edit access nodes page, under Access Nodes, click Deploy new Linux access node.

  9. For vCloud Director, in the vCenters area, click Edit to add or remove a vCenter.

    The Edit vCenters dialog box appears.

    1. To add a vCenter hypervisor, from the vCenters list, select the hypervisor.

      The Edit vCenter credentials dialog box appears.

    2. Enter the username and password for the vCenter.

    3. Click Save.

    4. To remove a vCenter, click the action button action_button in the row for the vCenter, and then click Delete.

    5. Click Save.
