You can perform on-demand threat analysis on virtual machine (VM) backups.
Procedure

Perform an out of place full VM restore (with a destination of VMware), and then select the Run Threat Analysis option. For more information, see Restoring a Full Virtual Machine Out of Place for VMware (note: select the computer that has the Threat Analysis package installed as the access node).
If the system finds a threat, you will receive a system alert as well as an email alert. Click the link in the alert or in the email to open the Threat Analysis Report.
