By default, the metadata collected by data collection jobs in case of backed-up data includes modified date, file size, and file type. To include file access time information for clients in the File Storage Optimization dashboards, you must configure the client, file system agent, and subclient to preserve this information during file system backup jobs.
Note
Depending on when the client system updates file access time, the file access time information might take up to a week to display in the File Storage Optimization dashboards.
Before You Begin
After the Track Access Time option is enabled, reboot the client computer. Access time is tracked after the client is rebooted.
Procedure

From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client.

Right-click the File System agent and click Properties.
The File System Properties dialog box appears.

Select the Track Access Time check box, and then click OK.

In the client reboot confirmation message, you can choose to reboot now or to reboot later.
Important
If you reboot later, then access time is tracked after the client is rebooted.

Do the following on each subclient for which you want to display file access time information in the File Storage Optimization dashboards:

In the CommCell Browser, click File System > backup set.

In the backup set tab under Subclient Name, right-click the subclient that you want to use and then click Properties.

Click Advanced.

On the Advanced Options tab, select the Catalog additional file and system attributes check box. For more information, see Subclient Properties (Advanced Options).

Click OK.

To capture file access time information for files that were previously backed up, schedule a full back up job to run approximately seven days after the Track Access Time option is enabled.
If a full back up job is not run, file access time information is captured for files backed up during back up jobs that run after the Track Access Time option is enabled.
