When you provision a new VM with VMware Aria Automation (formerly vRealize Automation) version 8.x, you can identify the plan, tenant, and VM group.
Before You Begin
-
The plan is a backup plan that has already been configured in Command Center.
-
The tenant is a vRealize tenant.
-
The VM Group can be an existing group, or you can define a new group as part of provisioning.
Procedure
After configuring a cloud template under Design, from the Automation Portal for vRealize, perform the following steps:
-
At the left bottom corner, click the Deploy button to deploy the template.
-
Input the name of the deployment on the first page that displays, and go to the second page by selecting OK.
-
When the second page displays, input the cloud account, VM group, CV VM plan, and project information.
-
Click the Deployments tab to view the status of the added deployment.
Result
For Command Center, this operation includes the VM in the specified VM group and associates the specified plan with the VM group. If you entered a new VM Group name, the resulting VM group name has the form tenant_name.vm_group_name.
For CommCell Console, this operation includes the VM in the specified subclient (VM group) and associates a storage plan and schedule policy that are based on the specified plan criteria.
