Select the data path for the restore or recovery operation. You can specify the MediaAgent, Library, Drive Pool, and Drive from which the restore operation must be performed.
Use MediaAgent
Specifies the name of the MediaAgent that will be used to perform the restore operation. If necessary, you can change the name of the MediaAgent.
For example, if the library is shared and you want to use a specific MediaAgent (instead of the system selected MediaAgent, or a MediaAgent which may be idle, or less critical) or if you know that the media containing the data you want to restore is available in the library attached to the specified MediaAgent.
If the media containing the data is not available in the tape library attached to the MediaAgent, the system will automatically prompt you to insert the appropriate media. In the case of a disk library, the operation will fail if the requested data is not available in the disk library attached to the specified MediaAgent.
Note
If you used a UNIX MediaAgent to perform the IntelliSnap backup:
-
Change the value of the Allow restore jobs to use alternative MediaAgent and Drive Pool to access required media on the Resource Manager tab of the Media Management Configuration dialog box to 1. For more information, see Media Management Configuration: Resource Manager.
-
Select a Windows MediaAgent on the Data Path tab of the Advanced Restore Options dialog box to perform the restore operation.
Otherwise, the restore job will fail.
Use Library
Specifies the name of the library that will be used to perform the restore operation. Use this option when you want to restore using a specific library.
For example, if you know that the media containing the data you want to restore is available in a specific library.
Use Drive Pool
Specifies the name of the Drive Pool that will be used to perform the restore operation. Use this option when you want to restore using a specific Drive Pool.
To restore NAS data, select the drive pool type that was used to perform the backup, that is, if an NDMP drive pool was used, specify an NDMP drive pool.
Use Drive
Specifies the name of the drive in the drive pool that will be used to perform the restore operation. Use this option when you want to restore using a specific Drive in the Drive Pool.
Use Proxy
Specifies the name of the proxy server that will be used to perform the restore operation. Use this option when you want to restore using a proxy server.
Use proxy as SCSI server
Specifies that the selected proxy server will be used to perform instant clone operations as a SCSI server.
Use File Recovery Enabler for Linux (only applicable for VMware agents)
Select this option to identify a specific File Recovery Enabler to use for Live File Recovery; then select the File Recovery Enabler from the Use File Recovery Enabler for Linux list.
For Live File Recovery, the restore operation can use the default File Recovery Enabler that is configured for the instance; in this case you do not need to select a File Recovery Enabler during the browse or restore. If you specified a different File Recovery Enabler on the Browse and Restore Options | Advanced Options tab, ensure that the same File Recovery Enabler is used for the restore.
