You can move a deduplication database (DDB) to another location on the same MediaAgent or to a new MediaAgent. You can move the DDB across platforms, that is from Windows to Linux or vice versa, if both the source MediaAgent and the destination MediaAgent have the same endianness.
When you perform the move operation, the software suspends the jobs that run for the deduplication database until the move operation is complete. If you enabled horizontal scaling for the storage policy copy that the deduplication database is associated with, then the software suspends only the jobs that run for the deduplication database that you are moving. The software does not suspend the jobs that run for the other deduplication databases associated with the storage policy copy.

Note
-
If the DDB is on a MediaAgent that is SP14 or a more recent version, you can move the DDB only to a MediaAgent that is the same version or a more recent version. For example, if the source MediaAgent is SP14, you can move the DDB only to a MediaAgent that is SP14 or a more recent version.

You cannot move the DDB to MediaAgent installation directory.
