Capacity usage is calculated based on the size of all the primary snap copies undergoing a SnapVault or SnapMirror operation, which creates a secondary copy referred to as vault/mirror copy. SnapVault and SnapMirror jobs apply only for NetApp storage arrays.
To view capacity calculations for the CommCell environment, see Capacity Types in the License Summary Report.
Included Data
The latest SnapVault and SnapMirror jobs for each primary snap copy are used to calculate capacity.
Capacity Usage Increase
Capacity usage can increase based on the amount of backed up data that you vault or mirror.
Capacity Usage Decrease
Capacity usage can decrease because of any of the following actions:
-
Disabling backups on the subclient. For more information, see Disabling backups on the subclient.
-
Deleting the last SnapVault and SnapMirror jobs.
Excluded Data
The following items are excluded from the capacity calculation:
-
Multiple vault and mirror copies in the same storage policy.
-
Vault and mirror copies of the same primary snap copy.
-
Replication (formerly Live Sync) operations.
Operations performed using VM replication pairs appear in the Virtualization Licenses section of the License Summary Report. For more information, see Auto Recovery in the License Summary Report.
