Skip errors and continue is an advanced restore/recover/retrieve option that enables a data recovery operation to continue despite media errors. This is useful if you anticipate errors to occur during the data recovery operation but do not wish to disrupt the operation because of those errors.
The skip errors and continue feature can be activated/deactivated in two ways:
-
By selecting/deselecting the Skip Errors and Continue option while configuring advanced data recovery options prior to initiating the job. (For step-by-step instructions, see Skip Errors and Continue a Restore/Recover/Retrieve Operation.)
-
By clicking the Toggle button in the Progress tab of the job's restore/recover/retrieve Details while the job is in progress. (For step-by-step instructions, see Enable or Disable the Skip Errors and Continue Option During a Data Recovery Operation.)
When Skip Errors and Continue is selected, the data recovery operation will mark any files containing media errors as Failed and continue with the remainder of the recovery operation. When the data recovery operation is complete, you can view the failed files by right-clicking the job in the Job History window and selecting View Restored/Recovered/Retrieved Files | Failed Files. (For step-by-step instructions, see View Failed Files.)
