Getting Started with Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP

Verify that your environment meets the system requirements, complete the file server service catalog, and then perform a test backup and restore.

Procedure

  1. Verify that your access node meets the hardware specifications to back up the CIFS shares and NFS exports.

  2. Commvault uses optimized scanning for faster incremental backups. Verify that your environment meets the system requirements.

  3. To access the Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP file storage via CIFS, the access node requires the Windows File System software. Verify that your access node meets the system requirements for the Windows access nodes.

  4. To access the Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP file storage via CIFS and NFS, the access node requires the Linux File System software. Verify that your access node meets the system requirements for the Linux access nodes.

    • The samba-client or smbclient and the cifs-utils packages must be installed on the Linux access nodes if they are used to back up CIFS shares.

    • You can back up NFS exports through HyperScale X access nodes as well.

  5. Add Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP File Storage.

  6. Perform a test backup and restore.
