The global deduplication policy enables deduplication across multiple storage policies that use a common set of disk libraries and deduplication database (DDB).
To create a global deduplication policy using a disk network storage pool, see Configuring Disk Network Storage Pool.
To create a global deduplication policy using a cloud network storage pool, see Configuring Cloud Network Storage Pool.
You can also automate the creation of a global deduplication policy by using the sp_creation.xml configuration file. For more information, see Creating a Global Deduplication Policy.
Note
Global Deduplication policies are not recommended for Archive Cloud Storage platforms, as this could result in recalling more data from archival storage. For a list of supported Archive Cloud Storage Platforms, see Restoring Data from Archive Cloud Storage Using a Workflow - Support.
After creating a global deduplication policy, you can create a storage policy or a storage policy copy and assign it to a global deduplication policy. For information about how to create a global deduplication policy or a storage policy copy, see Creating a Storage Policy with Global Deduplication or Creating a Storage Policy Copy with Global Deduplication.
