Getting Started with GlusterFS

Verify that the environment meets the system requirements, add a file server, add a subclient, and then perform a test backup and restore.

Procedure

  1. Verify that your environment meets the system requirements for GlusterFS.

    • 2 GB or more

    • An additional 1.5 GB for every 500,000 folders in the backup data

  2. Supported on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, and SuSE Linux operating systems only on x64 processors.

  3. GlusterFS File System (GlusterFS)* version 3.10 or higher. The GlusterFS volumes must be mounted on the same mount point on all data access nodes, and the type of the volume must be GlusterFS.

  4. Verify Data Access node requirements.

    • Passwordless SSH must be set up between the GlusterFS cluster nodes and clients. For more information about enabling passwordless SSH, go to the Red Hat Documentation website.
  5. Install File System Package.

  6. Complete the guided setup.

  7. Perform a backup.

  8. Perform a restore.
