Provisioning Target Options for Azure Stack Hub

When you configure a provisioning target for Azure Stack Hub, enter Azure-specific values for the destination site.

General Options

  • Select vendor: Select Microsoft Azure Stack Hub.

  • Target name: Enter a descriptive name for the destination.

  • Destination: Select the destination hypervisor.

  • Access node: Select an access node (also called proxy) or an access node group to use for the restore operation.

To restore multiple instances or VMs simultaneously, select Automatic to distribute the workload (instances or VMs) in the restore job across the access nodes that are assigned for the destination hypervisor.

First, the instances or VMs are assigned to the access nodes by a region match. If access nodes are not available in the same region, then the instances or VMs are assigned using the round-robin method.

The Automatic option is available only for Azure.

If you select an access node group to restore VMs, the Commvault software distributes the workload (instances or VMs) in the restore job across the access nodes (also called proxies) that are available in the access node group.

  • Security: Select users or user groups who can access the target.

  • VM display name: Select Use original name, Add a prefix to the VM name, or Add a suffix to the VM name, and then enter a string to be appended to the original display name to create new destination VM names.

Destination Options

  • Resource group: To specify the resource group for the destination VM, select the group from the list.

  • Region: Select the region for the restored VM.

This field applies only to Azure.

  • Storage account: Select the storage account for the destination virtual machine and disks.

  • VM size: Select a size specification for the destination virtual machine.

  • Availability zone: For Azure managed disks, select the pre-defined availability zone for the restored VM.

The zones listed apply only to the region selected for the restored VM. If you select the Auto option rather than a specific availability zone (1, 2, or 3), and if the feature is supported for the specified region and VM size, the VM is restored to the same availability zone as the source VM, otherwise, it is restored without a zone (No Zone).

  • Storage type: For managed disks only, select the storage type for the Azure Stack Hub destination VM: Original (same as the source VM), Standard HDD, Premium SSD.

    Consider the following:

    • When the Storage type for the target is set to Original, the destination VM storage type is as follows:

      • For Azure Stack Hub to Azure Stack Hub restore, the destination VM storage type is the same as the source VM.

      • For VMware to Azure Stack Hub restore, the destination VM storage type is standard HDD.

  • Virtual network: Select a network connection for the restored VM, or leave the default value of Auto select.

Static IP addresses from a source VM are not restored to the destination VM.

Only 1 NIC can restore to an Azure Stack Hub destination, so even if the source VM has multiple NICs, only 1 NIC is available in the restored VM.

  • Security group: Specify a network security group for the restored VM or leave the default value of Auto select.

  • Create public IP: To configure a public IP address for destination VMs, select this check box.

Image Option

  • Templates: Select an Azure Stack Hub image tempate for the destination VM.

Virtualize Me Options

  • Enable association to a server group: To associate the destination VM with a server group, move the Enable association to a server group toggle key to the right and select the server group.
