Restoring an Amazon RDS Backup

Use this procedure to restore an Amazon RDS backup.

Your objective for restoring data determine the process you must follow.

Restore data from a specified range of time

If you need to restore data during a range of time (for example, data that was deleted accidentally), you can browse and restore data based on a time range that you specify.

Restore data that was backed up in the past number of days

If you need to restore your data to a point that was taken in time period that you are unsure of, you can browse and restore data the data based on the number of days that you specify.

Before You Begin

Perform an Amazon RDS backup.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Cloud Apps > RDS.

  2. Right-click the instance, point to All Tasks and then click Browse and Restore.

  3. Select Latest Backup and click View Content.

  4. In the right pane of the CommCell Browser window, select the snapshot to restore, and then click Recover All Selected.

    The Restore Options dialog box appears.

  5. On the General tab, select the destination options.

    1. In the DB Identifier box, type a name for the restore instance. The software will create a new RDS Instance with the specified name for the restore operation.

      Note

      You must restore the snapshot to a new instance.

    2. If you use the Amazon synchronous replication feature, select the Multi-AZ Deployment check box.

    3. From the Target Availability Zone list, select the pre-defined Amazon availability zone for the restored instance.

    4. In the DB Subnet Group box, type the default VPC subnet that is associated with the instance and Amazon availability zone where the restored instance is available.

    5. In the DB Parameter Group box, specify the DB parameter group to be assigned for the Amazon RDS instance.

    6. To make the restored instance publically accessible, select the Publically Accessible check box.

  6. Click OK to close the Restore Options dialog box.
