You can setup to use the MediaAgent that is physically closest to the client to be selected for running the data protection operation.
You can also configure a client computer group that uses a common storage policy for data protection operations. For more details, see Configuring Storage Policy for a Client Computer Group.
However, if you do not have the Internet to retrieve the location, you can setup the client and the MediaAgent pairing. The pairing between the client and the MediaAgent is setup by configuring as identical additional setting on both the clients and the MediaAgents. For more details, see Setting up Client and MediaAgent Pairing for Data Protection Operations.
Before You Begin
Ensure that you have the latest Service pack installed on the CommServe.
Procedure

On the ribbon in the CommCell Console, click the Storage tab, and then click Media Management.
The Media Management Configuration dialog box appears.

On the Resource Manager dialog box enable the Allow restore, index restore or backup to pick MediaAgent based on the distance to restore location parameter.

Click OK.
