To back up and restore Microsoft Hyper-V VMs, allow network communication between Commvault access nodes and your Hyper-V infrastructure.
If your environment uses firewalls or network segmentation, verify connectivity from the access node to Hyper-V hosts.
Prerequisites
Required ports
If firewalls exist between components, allow the following connectivity.
| Port | Protocol | Source | Destination | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 135 | TCP | Access node | Hyper-V hosts | RPC endpoint mapper |
| 49152-65535 | TCP | Access node | Hyper-V hosts | RPC dynamic ports for Hyper-V management |
| 5985 | TCP | Access node | Hyper-V hosts | WinRM HTTP (if used) |
| 5986 | TCP | Access node | Hyper-V hosts | WinRM HTTPS (if used) |
Firewall configuration
For Windows Firewall on Hyper-V hosts:
-
Enable the predefined Hyper-V Management Clients firewall rule.
-
Enable the predefined Remote Event Log Management firewall rule.
For hardware firewalls or third-party firewall software, configure rules to allow the required ports listed in the table.
