Configuring the SAP Archive Link Client for SAP Archiving Interface

The SAP Archive Link for SAP Archiving Interface is an implementation of SAP Archive Link (protocol 0045) which provides an interface between SAP R/3 or SAP S/4HANA On-Premise edition and the SAP Archive Link Agent.

The SAP Archive Link for SAP Archiving Interface provides a mechanism to store SAP contents such as scanned invoices, print lists, outgoing documents or SAP Data archive files. These documents/data are stored on Commvault ObjectStore repository and accessible to SAP R/3 or SAP S/4HANA on demand. The SAP Archive Link Agent would essentially handle all of SAP document storage needs using our optimized storage solution.

Before You Begin

Install the SAP Archive Link Agent. For more information, see Installing the SAP Archive Link Agent.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computers, point to New Client > File System, and then click SAP Archive Link.

  2. From the New SAP Archive Link Client dialog box, enter name of the SAP Archive Link client, which is how it will appear in the CommCell Console.

  3. Select the Member Server, which is the client computer on which the SAP Archive Link Agent is installed, and then click OK.

The SAP Archive Link client will now appear as a client computer node in the CommCell Browser.

  4. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers >SAP Archive Link Client .

  5. Right-click Object Link, and then point to All Tasks > Manage Site.

The Manage Site dialog box appears.

  6. Click the Add Site button to define a content repository.

  7. On the Add Site dialog Box, enter the following information, and then click OK.

    • Site Name: Enter the friendly name for the site.

    • Retention Days: Specify the retention period for the site. The retention period applies to all the contents that are moved to the repository from the specific site.

      Note

Based on the site retention days that you specify for the site, the content is pruned on the ObjectStore.

The SAP Archive Link agent links the ObjectStore user with the site that you define.

For deleted items and file versions, data is pruned using the Edge Drive subclient policy. By default, the deleted items are automatically pruned after 730 days. If you do not want to prune the deleted items, you must select the Infinite Retention check box and clear the Enable Retention Rules for file versions check box at subclient policy level.

  8. Click Close.
