Editing Data Source Schema in Data Cube

After you create and collect data from a data source, you can edit the data schema in Data Cube. With the Open Data Source connector, you can also create your own schema to create a custom data sources that exist entirely in Data Cube.

Note: If the software restructures the data for any of the following reasons, then you must disable the Incremental Crawling option on the data source in order to perform a full crawl of the data:

  • You change the data connection schema

  • You change the data connection primary key

  • You delete data

Before You Begin

You must have connected to at least one data source. See Connect to Data Sources.

Procedure

  1. In a Web browser, log in to the Web Console and then click Analytics.

  2. In the left pane, click the connector group to view the data sources for that connector.

  3. On the Data Sources (connector) page, in the box of the data source that you want to view, click View Schema in the lower-right corner.

  4. To edit an existing schema field:

    1. Locate the row of the field you want to edit and then click Edit.

    2. Edit the information about the field. See Schema Field Options.

    3. When finished, click Save. Changes are only applied after the next crawl.

    4. When prompted, select to crawl the data immediately or at a later time.

  5. Optional: Create a new schema field as follows:

    1. In the top-right corner of the Schema page, click Create New Field.

    2. Enter the information about the field. See Schema Field Options.

    3. When finished, click Save. Changes are only applied after the next crawl.

    4. When prompted, select to crawl the data immediately or at a later time.

  6. Optional: Delete a schema field as follows:

    Note

    Deleting a schema field removes the ability to perform faceted search of the data source for that option.

    1. Locate the row of the field you want to delete and then click Delete.

    2. Click Delete to confirm the deletion.

      The row is removed.
