Reader Streams

Updated

The Reader Streams tab in the Process Manager displays transfer information for data coming from a source machine.

  • Computer throttling

The value of the ComputerThroughputMBPH additional setting at the MediaAgent or client level. See Limiting Bandwidth at the Client or MediaAgent Level and Scenarios.

  • Job ID

The job ID for the backup or copy job.

  • Stream

The number of streams used by the job. Information about each stream appears in a separate row.

  • Type

If the Optimize for concurrent LAN backups check box is selected, the column displays SDT. If the Optimize for concurrent LAN backups check box is not selected, the column displays PL (pipeline). For information on the Optimize for concurrent LAN backups check box, see Optimize a MediaAgent for Concurrent LAN Backups.

  • Duration

The hours, minutes, and seconds the job has been running.

  • Data Transferred

    The amount of data transferred.

  • Bandwidth Limit MB/H

The job level value is set using the Throttle Network Bandwidth(MB/HR) setting at the subclient or storage policy copy level. The job level value is displayed in the same row as the job and is surrounded by brackets, for example, [500]. If the job runs using multiple streams, the stream level throttling value is calculated based on the Throttle Network Bandwidth(MB/HR) setting and the ComputerThroughputMBPH additional setting. For information on these calculations, see Scenarios.

  • Throughput GB/H

The transfer rate of the data.

Scenarios

  • If the sum of the Bandwidth Limit MB/H values is greater than the Computer throttling value, the Computer throttling value is used for all of the streams.

    Computer throttling: 50 MBPH

    Bandwidth Limit MB/H for Job1: 100 MBPH

    Bandwidth Limit MB/H for Job2: 50 MBPH

    Job1: 2 streams

    Job2:2 streams

  • If the sum of the Bandwidth Limit MB/H values is less than than the Computer throttling value, the Bandwidth Limit MB/H value for each job is split between the job streams.

    Computer throttling: 600 MBPH

    Bandwidth Limit MB/H for Job1: 100 MBPH

    Bandwidth Limit MB/H for Job2: 50 MBPH

    Job1: 2 streams

  • If some jobs have Bandwidth Limit MB/H values and some jobs do not, the sum of the existing Bandwidth Limit MB/H values is subtracted from the Computer throttling value to find the throttling value for the job without the Bandwidth Limit MB/H value.

    Computer throttling: 600 MBPH

    Bandwidth Limit MB/H for Job1: 100 MBPH

    Bandwidth Limit MB/H for Job2: 50 MBPH
