Creating a Subclient for Nutanix Files Exported to NFS

You can create a user-defined subclient for Nutanix Files that are exported to NFS.

When you add a file server, a default subclient is automatically created. The default subclient contains all the data, and cannot be deleted. You can create more subclients for data that has different backup requirements.

If the content of subclients overlap, then the backup of each share is performed separately.

The default subclient does not back up the content that is specified in the other subclients within the same backup set.

Important

  • A subclient cannot contain a mix of content formats. To use the auto-mount format, create a new subclient.

  • With the auto-mount format, the content path begins with the file server interface (for example, file_server_interface:/NFS_export_path).

  • With the mount point format, the content path includes the mount point (for example, /mount/nfs).

  • For a subclient that uses the auto-mount format, you can perform only out-of-place restores.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File servers.

    The File servers page appears.

  2. Click the file server.

    The file server page appears.

  3. Under Protocols, click NFS.

    The NFS page appears.

  4. In the Subclients section, on the right of the page, click Add subclient.

    The Add subclient page appears.

  5. In the Name box, enter a name for the subclient.

  6. From the Plan list, select the server plan to use for the subclient.

  7. For Content, select the NFS export that you want to back up.

Add paths from the same share to the subclient.

Only the CFT backup enabled shares are included in backups.

  8. Click OK.
