Considerations for Azure NetApp Files Replication Access Nodes

Before configuring the Snapshot Replication feature for the Azure NetApp Files volumes, review the considerations for MediaAgents (access nodes).

  • Appropriate permissions must be assigned on the Azure portal to the MediaAgent(s) that will be used to create the primary snapshot, secondary (replica) snapshot, and backup copy. For more information on the permissions, see the For IntelliSnap Backups section on the System Requirements for NFS Exports of Azure NetApp Files or the System Requirements for CIFS Shares of Azure NetApp Files page.

  • Ensure that the MediaAgent which creates the primary snapshot and backup copy has access to the source Azure NetApp Files (ANF) volume. You must select the MediaAgent as an access node at the subclient level. On the Access nodes tile of the subclient details page, click the edit button edit button outline grey/gray pencil and then select an access node from the Access nodes list.

  • To use a different MediaAgent for the backup copy operation, you must select the MediaAgent at the subclient level. On the Snapshot management tile of the subclient details page, click the edit button edit button outline grey/gray pencil and then select an access node from the Separate access node for backup copy list in the Additional options section.

  • To use a MediaAgent to create secondary (replica) snapshot, you must select the MediaAgent from the array details page which can be accessed from Manage > Infrastructure > Arrays.
