Getting Started with Lustre (File System)

Updated

Step 1: Review Requirements and Supported Features

Review the following requirements and supported features for Lustre:

Lustre File System version 2.5, 2.8, 2.10, and 2.12 (The fileset feature is not supported in versions 2.10 and 2.12.)

Step 2: Install the File System Core and File System Packages on Data Access Nodes

Review each of the following topics to prepare for the installation and select the best installation method for your environment.

If you want to also use the data access nodes as MediaAgents, then install the MediaAgent package on the nodes. For instructions, see Installing the MediaAgent.

Note

  • All of the participating data access nodes must be at the same service pack level.

  • All of the participating data access nodes and the Lustre cluster must be time synced.

  • Keyless SSH must be set up between the MDT server and the data access nodes.

  • Mount the Lustre file system with the flock option.

  • Enable the user_xattr option for user extended attributes.

  • For Amazon FSx for Lustre clients:

    • Mount the Lustre volume on each access node with both noatime and flock options.

    • Configure the LustreUseRecursiveScan additional setting to 1 on each access node.
