Transition from Remote Operations Management Service (ROMS®) to Metrics Reporting Server

Remote Operations Management Service (ROMS®) functionality has been merged into Metrics Reporting Server. To access the same kind of information and services that were available with ROMS, you can transition to Metrics Reporting Server. Similar features on Metrics Reporting Server include the Worldwide Dashboard, the Health Report, Alerts on Reports, and Proactive Support.

  • The Worldwide Dashboard displays a preview of the most critical information gathered from all of the CommCell computers in your organization. For more information, see Worldwide Dashboard.

  • The Health Report includes both a summary and detailed view of all CommCell computers in your organization, such as the status of backup operations, system performance statistics, deduplication performance statistics, and strike counts.

Once you have set up Private Metrics Reporting and Cloud Metrics Reporting, you can view the Health Report or set the Health Report to automatically generate and e-mail the output according to the schedule that works best for you. For more information about the Health Report, see Health Report - Overview.

  • Alerts send notifications about critical system information that appears in many reports, such as the overall CommCell backup percentage, or the amount of disk space available. For instructions on setting alerts, see Web Console and Cloud Metrics Reporting instructions:

  • Proactive Support allows our Private Support Team to diagnose your CommCell problems from a remote location. For more information, see Proactive Support.

Moving to Metrics Reporting Server

To transition to Metrics Reporting Server, decide which Metrics Reporting Server setup works best for your organization. You can use both Private Metrics Reporting and Cloud Metrics Reporting to view reports, or you can use just one. Setup choices include:

  • Private Metrics Reporting

View reports on your organization's Private Metrics Reporting Server. Private Metrics Reporting Server collects and processes data, and then displays reports on your private Web Console.

  • Cloud Metrics Reporting

View reports on our Cloud Services Portal. Our Cloud Metrics Reporting Server collects and processes data from your organization's CommCell computers, and then hosts the reports on our Cloud Services Portal. The Cloud Services Portal is secure, and only authorized users have access to these reports.

  • Both

View reports on both your organization's Private Metrics Reporting Server and on our Cloud Services Portal. We recommend that you use both Private Metrics Reporting and the Cloud Metrics Reporting.

Installing Private Metrics Reporting

View reports on your organization's Private Metrics Reporting Server. Private Metrics Reporting Server collects and processes data, and then displays reports on your Web Console.

  1. After upgrading to v10 or v11, install the Private Metrics Reporting Server and activate data collection, if necessary. For instructions, see Setting Up Metrics Reports.

  2. You can then log onto the Web Console to view reports based on the collected data. For instructions, see Access Reports on Web Console.

Configuring Cloud Metrics Reporting

View reports on our Cloud Services site. Our Cloud Metrics Reporting Server collects and processes data from your organization's CommCell computers, and then hosts the reports on our Cloud Services site.

  1. After upgrading to v10 or v11, Register each CommCell computer in your organization and activate data collection for reports on each of your CommCell computers. For instructions, see Getting Access to the Cloud Services Web Site.

  2. You can then log into the Cloud Services site in order to access reports. For instructions, see Access Reports for Cloud Metrics Reporting.
