Using a vSAN Storage in Continuous Replication

You can configure continuous replication pairs for vSAN datastores.

Procedure

  1. Create the head and tail VM storage policy on the source site vCenter and the DR site vCenter with the following capabilities.

    • Head policy must have the capability of the default storage policy and replication (cvtblrh).

    • Tail policy must have the capability of the default storage policy and caching (cvtblrt).

  2. Add the entity settings as follows:

Enter the storage policy name and the capability ID of the default storage policy in the following format:

Tail VSA proxy

Enter the storage policy name and the capability ID of the default storage policy in the following format:

Note

If there are multiple capabilities for the default storage policy, you can enter any one of the capability ID.

  1. Restart the head and tail proxy service.

  2. Get the capability ID from the vCenter Server:

    1. Go to https://<vCenterServer machine>/pbm/mob/?moid=ProfileManager&method=PbmRetrieveContent.

    2. Pass the default unique Id of the Commvault software version aa6d5a82\-1c88\-45da\-85d3\-3d74b91a5bad to the API.

    3. Copy the capability ID from the output.

      The capability ID is the string value of the PbmCapabilityMetadataUniqueId key in the output.
