DB2 Backup Sets

Each DB2 instance can contain one or more DB2 databases. After you configure the instance, you must discover all the databases that are part of the DB2 instance. For the DB2 Agent, each backup set is a reference to a DB2 database.

You can discover DB2 backup sets manually or automatically. For each database that you discover, a backup set is created in the CommCell.

  • To automatically discover DB2 databases, you select the Enable Automatic Database Discovery option for the DB2 instance. For more information, see Enabling Automatic DB2 Database Discovery.

  • You can manually discover all existing DB2 databases in a single operation. For more information, see Manually Discovering Databases.

  • If you need to manage a database before the automatic or manual discovery operation completes, you can manually add a backup set for the DB2 database. For more information, see Creating DB2 Backup Sets.

For information about backup sets, the different types, and how they fit within the logical structure of a CommCell, see Backup Sets Overview.
