Getting Started with Amazon RDS SQL Databases

Review each of the topics to get started with Amazon RDS SQL Databases.

Step 1: Install the Commvault Package

If your backup administrator has not already installed the Commvault package, then you must install it.

For more information, see Installing the Commvault Package.

Step 2: Log on to the Command Center

Access the Command Center by using the URL that was displayed on the installation completion page, or that you received from your backup administrator.

From the navigation panel, click Solutions > Cloud Apps > Apps.

Step 3: Register the Command Center

If you have not done so, register your Command Center.

Step 4: Complete the Core Setup Wizard

Configure core information by completing the Core Setup Wizard.

Step 5: Prepare for Your First Backup and Restore

  1. Configure the Amazon database instance to have the native backup and restore option. For more information, see the Amazon article, Microsoft SQL Server Native Backup and Restore Support.

  2. Configure an Amazon RDS app. For more information, see Creating an App for an Amazon RDS Account.

    An account can contain multiple Amazon RDS SQL instances.

  3. Add an Amazon RDS SQL instance. For more information, see Adding Amazon RDS SQL instances to the App.

Step 6: Perform Your First Backup and Restore

  1. Perform a full backup.

  2. Perform a restore.
