Solaris File System Agent: System Requirements

The following are the requirements for Solaris File System agent:

Cluster Support

You can install the software on a cluster, if clustering is supported by the operating system. For information about supported cluster types, see Support for Cluster Configuration.

Hard Drive

1 GB minimum of hard disk space for installing the software.

1024 MB of free disk space is required for the tmp directory.

To calculate the disk space requirements for the job results directory, see Job Results Directory Disk Space Calculation.

1024 MB of free disk space is required for log directory (/var/log, by default).

Processor

Any compatible processor on supported platforms.

Memory (RAM)

• 2 GB or more

• An additional 1.5 GB for every 500,000 folders in the backup data

Solaris Containers and Zones

You can back up and restore data in both global and non-global zones.

SUNWcry Package

For Solaris 10 and lower, make sure to install the SUNWcry package.

Miscellaneous

Schedule Jobs Using a Client Computer's Time Zone

The client computer has to be in one of the standard time zones recognized by the CommServe. Otherwise, the CommServe does not get updated with the client computer's time zone and the jobs scheduled using the client computer's time zone might not run.

What Is Backed Up

The following file system elements are backed up:

• Files that have holes

• Files that have advisory locks

• Raw device files as file nodes

• Symbolic links that are browsed or manually added to the data contents

• Files that have names that contain non-ASCII characters, if the appropriate locales are set

• Shares that have Macintosh File System data

• Files that have a file path or a file name that contains more than 1024 characters

  Note: By default, files that have a mandatory lock are not backed up. To back up these files, see Configuring Backups for Locked Files
