Starting with FR 11.22, the data retention option changes include the following:

New Subclients

If you create a new subclient for an archive set from the CommCell Console, or Command Center the archiving jobs on the subclients honor Storage Policy Retention. The Retention tab will not be present on the subclients.

From Maintenance Release 11.22.66 and higher:
  • If you create a subclient for an archive set from the CommCell Console, then the Retention tab is displayed with default retention set to infinite. You can modify the subclient retention settings.

  • If you create a subclient for an archive set from the Command Center, then the Retention tab is grayed out with retention set to zero days. The archiving job on the subclients honor archive plan retention.

Existing Subclients
  • For existing subclients in an archive set that were created from the CommCell Console and where the Retention tab was hidden, the Retention tab is displayed with default retention set to infinite. You can modify the subclient retention settings.

You can run OneDrive backups to back up both the OneNote files and the OneDrive files together.

Previously, by default, OneNote files were not backed up along with the OneDrive files. We used OneNote API to back up the OneNote files.

Outlook Add-In with ContentStore Email Viewer

In LITE mode, your content indexed messages are automatically arranged as conversations in the ContentStore Email Viewer.

Previously, the conversation view had to be manually enabled.

Salesforce

The following changes were made for Salesforce in the Command Center:

  • Salesforce is directly under Applications.

  • A sync database is required.

  • Server groups can be used as access nodes when the Cloud apps package is installed on the servers in the group.

  • Instances, backup sets, and subclients are no longer needed. If you have existing instances, you can view them by using the list control available when you open your Salesforce app.

When you install feature release 11.22 in your CommCell environment, you must also install 11.22 on the Commvault access node that you use for Salesforce.

SharePoint Online

Use the Command Center to create a Office 365 client for SharePoint Online.

The agents installed in the existing clients are now called SharePoint Online (Classic).

Windows File System Agent

For UNC paths, if impersonate user credentials are not given for in-place restores, the software automatically queries the subclient credentials used during backups, and then performs the restore operation.

Previously, you had to enter the impersonate user credentials to perform in-place restores.

Cassandra

You can ensure that Cassandra backup jobs do not fail by configuring the Cassandra config file path in the instance properties or adding the sCassandraiConfigFilePath additional setting.

If you plan to upgrade the Cassandra agent, you must set the sCassandraiConfigFilePath additional setting before you start the upgrade operation.

Alerts

The Service Pack Expiry alert is removed. When the Service Pack license of a client computer has already expired or will expire in the next 30 days, this alert notifies the Commvault to Administrators about the expiration of the license.

Company

The Tenant Operator user group is no longer visible. As a result, you will experience the following changes:

  • Users that are added manually to this group are automatically removed. The security associations that were inherited from this group are set at the user level.

  • Any security associations that are configured on this group are removed.

    If you want to configure a tenant operator, you must use the Tenant Operators section in the company properties page.

DR Backup

With Maintenance Release 11.22.48, and above, the primary copy of the DR storage policy is converted to a WORM copy to prevent accidental deletion of data that is not qualified for aging. In addition, when you create a new DR storage policy, the default retention period is set to 15 days and 15 cycles. (The retention period for existing DR storage policies continues to use the existing settings and is not affected by this change.)

Installation Wizard

Beginning in Feature Release 22, to configure the File System Agent, you need to either explicitly select the packages during the installation or you can configure the agent later. File System packages that are automatically installed with other agent packages are not displayed in the CommCell Console.

Previously, you could see the File System Agent as a deconfigured agent in the CommCell Console. The File System Agent did not consume any licenses.

All connections between MediaAgents, CommServe servers, and clients now go through network tunnels.

Note

If you install a new MediaAgent with 11.22 or a later feature release, and if you have an existing V10/V11 client at SP14 or earlier service pack that connects to that MediaAgent, no jobs will run on that client. To fix the issue, on the MediaAgent, set the nCLNT_FORCE_TUNNEL additional setting to 0.

Data Aging

To enable or disable data aging for a VM-centric virtualization client, configure the Enable data aging setting on the Activity Control tab in the Client Computer Properties dialog box for the virtualization client. When you disable data aging for a virtualization client, data aging is disabled for all VMs that are included under the virtualization client. Also, when you enable data aging for a virtualization client, data aging is enabled for all VMs. However, you can configure Enable data aging setting to disable data aging for an individual VM.
