Configuring an Azure Hypervisor for Automatic Scaling

You can configure automatic scaling to create Azure access nodes, and then decommission them soon after backup jobs complete.

Before You Begin

  • Verify that you added an Azure hypervisor associated with the Azure access node that will control operations for scaling out Azure access nodes. The Azure access node must have the following attributes:

    • Located in the region where you want to configure automatic scaling

    • Installed with Commvault version 11.21 or later

For instructions, see Adding an Azure Hypervisor For Automatic Scaling.

  • If you are configuring an existing hypervisor for auto scaling, and there is already an access node configured at the VM group level, then the automatic scaling settings configured at the hypervisor level do not apply to the VM group.

  • If you have an Azure hypervisor that uses managed identity authentication and want to use it for automatic scaling, you must change its authentication method to traditional.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

    The Virtual machines page appears.

  2. On the Hypervisors tab, click the hypervisor.

    The hypervisor page appears.

  3. On the Configuration tab, under Access node, move the Auto scale toggle key to the right.

The Auto scale settings dialog box appears.

  4. Configure the options for automatic scaling.

For information about each option, see Options in the Auto Scale-Out Settings Dialog Box.

  5. Click Save.
