Why Virtual Disk Sizes May Appear "Rounded Down"

When you create a virtual disk that is equal to or greater than 2200 GB, it may appear that the size has been "rounded down" by 100 GB or more.

The reason for this discrepancy is that the displayed size is the true numeric value of the virtual disk size.

For example, 12500 GB is actually 12500 GB / 1024 GB/TB ~ 12.2 TB.

Here are a few more examples:

  • a 2200 GB virtual disk is displayed as 2.1 TB

  • a 2300 GB virtual disk is displayed as 2.2 TB

  • a 3000 TB virtual disk is displayed as 2.9 PB
