Adding a Cloud Account for SQL Managed Instances

You can add a cloud account for Azure SQL Managed instances.

Procedure

  1. click +.

    The Add cloud account dialog box appears.

  2. In the Name box, enter a name for the new cloud account.

  3. To connect to the Azure account using managed identities, move the Connect using managed identities for Azure resources toggle key to the right, from the Credential list, select the credential for the Azure cloud account.

  4. In the Subscription ID box, enter the subscription for Azure cloud.

    For instructions about accessing this information from the Azure portal, see SQL Server Azure Cloud Connection Properties.

    Note

    If you enabled connecting to the Azure account using managed identities, you need only the subscription ID.

  5. From the Access nodes list, select the access nodes to use for the SQL instance.

    You can add multiple access nodes to discover instances and databases. The Commvault software uses only the first proxy server in the list.

  6. If you are connecting to the Azure account without using managed identities, from the Credential list, select a saved credential.

    Steps to create a new credential

    1. Click +. The Add credential dialog box appears.

    2. From the Credential Vault list, select the credential vault where you want to store the new credential.

    3. In the Credential name box, enter a name for the credential.

    4. In the Tenant ID box, enter the tenant ID.

    5. In the Application ID box, enter the application ID.

    6. In the Application secret box, enter the application secret.

    7. From the Environment list, select the environment.

    8. To display or modify the endpoints, move the Show endpoints toggle to the right.

    The endpoint includes the DNS name or the IP address, a colon, and the port number.

    9. Click Save.

  7. Click Save.
