Performing a Content Indexing Operation on Gmail Data and Google Drive Data

To search the contents of Gmail data and Google Drive data that is backed up on the MediaAgent, you must first perform a content indexing operation on the data.

You must run the content indexing operation separately from a backup operation.

Components That Must Be Installed

Before you can perform content indexing operations on Gmail data and Google Drive data, you must install the components in the following table. Other than those components, you don’t need to install any additional software.

Procedure

To perform a content indexing operation on the Gmail data and the Google Drive data, complete the following series of tasks:

  1. Configure the Search Engine.

  2. Enable content indexing.

  3. Run a content indexing operation on the Gmail data and the Google Drive data.

    Tip

    If you have proxy clients in multiple geographical locations, you can perform the content indexing operation on proxy clients that are in a single geographic location.

  4. View the content indexing job history.

To search the content indexed Gmail data and Google Drive data, you can log in to the Compliance Search page and perform searches.
