11.42 Upgrades When you upgrade the CommServe computer to the latest platform release, a pre-upgrade check will be performed to verify that the CommServe DB (data) size is not greater than 400 GB. If the CommServe DB (data) size exceeds this limit, the upgrade will be blocked. For assistance with the CommServe upgrade in this case, contact Customer Support.
11.40 Installs You can no longer install the Commvault control plane on Windows, which includes only the CommServe server, the Web Server, and the Command Center components. Commvault strongly encourages you to transition to a Linux environment for Control plane components. The Linux platform offers significantly better performance, enhanced stability, and superior resource efficiency when running Commvault. CommCell Management

The Commvault built-in Key Management Server (KMS) now generates a unique key for each CommCell, replacing the previously hardcoded built-in key. Keys are stored securely outside the CommServe database with machine-level protection, offering security comparable to an external KMS. It is safeguarded through the CommServe Disaster Recovery backup and automatically restored during a CommServe recovery. It is never shared externally and is fully managed without requiring any manual steps.
